Labelling a DHL Parcel

We understand that labelling your DHL parcel(s) can be a daunting process. This is why we've put together a guide full of tips and advice, along with some examples of DHL shipping labels.

The service you have selected, and the destination of your package will determine what labels and documents you require. In order for DHL to scan your goods easily, please ensure that the bar code label is not creased or covered in any way by packing tape.

If you are sending between EU countries you will not require any customs paperwork.

Territories and countries commonly confused as being in the EU:Channel Islands, Canary Islands, Gibraltar and northern Cyprus, these will require Customs documents.

Some counties have their own requirements for specific goods. Please check with the relevant Countries customs agency if you have any concerns.

Tips for filling out your waybill document

Firstly, it is important to enter the payer account number, which should then be followed by the account number of the shipper. If a payer account number is not specified on the waybill, all transportation charges will be invoiced to the shipper, so it is essential to enter the payer account number for payment by the recipient.

A contact name and shipper's reference should also be provided on the waybill, as well as the name and address of the shipping company. It is also mandatory to include the full address of the recipient, clearly stating their country, postcode and at least one method of contact.

Furthermore, the waybill must state the quantity of items to be shipped, as well as the overall weight and size of each package. A description of contents must also be given along with their precise value.
